Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship Standard Overview

A programme designed to build capability and confidence to deploy best-in-class Quality practices.

Designed Specifically for individuals involved in Quality to build capability and confidence to deploy best-in-class Quality practices enabling the fulfilment of contractual and regulatory requirements and continuous improvement in customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

Ideal for Project Quality Engineers, Quality Assurance Officers, Quality Engineers, Quality Officers, Supplier and Quality Engineers – Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship will support the development of key knowledge, skills and behaviours in Quality strategy and policy, the formulation of activities to deliver customer requirements, and robust data collection.

Quality Planning

Planning a delivery system for reliable outputs, such as implementing Quality Management Plans

Assurance

Providing confidence to stakeholders that Quality standards are maintained, such as conducting audits

Control

Verifying a product or service is meeting agreed specifications, such as carrying out inspections

Continuous Improvement

Preventing recurrence of poor quality through analysis and addressing the root cause of poor quality, such as conducting investigations

Capella was involved in developing this Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard and Assessment Plan, so we understand it deeply.

We consulted widely to develop our training materials, and they’ve been approved by Toyota, so you can be confident they’re benchmarked against Best in Class. This means we’re able to share best practice and deliver rich learning programmes with our blended approach delivery.

Our blended learning approach to this apprenticeship includes:

  • Tutor-led, bite-sized training sessions
  • 1 to 1 coaching with the course tutor throughout the apprenticeship
  • Access to supporting resources and reference materials

Work based application to help you drive success

Learners deliver an improvement project alongside the apprenticeship, with guidance and support from the learner’s coach and mentor. During the 14-months training period, learners are required to collate a portfolio of evidence, which includes examples of their behavioural development.

What can Learners expect from the End Point Assessment?

The important thing to remember is that throughout our Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship, learners are supported with tutor-led, bite sized training, 1:1 coaching and easy access to supporting resources. Leaners will have 22 weeks to complete a work based Quality Project, during the 6 month End Point Assessment period.

Your End Point Assessment is made up of three parts:

  • Knowledge (50%): learners present their project and answer questions from the Assessor
  • Professional Discussion (50%): learners have a Professional Discussion which is underpinned by the Portfolio of Evidence

Overview: Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship

 

Duration: 14 – 18 months

Content: Quality planning, assurance, control and Continuous Improvement

Commitment Required:

  • 15 training days
  • 8 coaching days
  • Mid programme review
  • Final review
  • Maths and English (if required) up to 7 additional days

End Point Assessment:

  • Dissertation (4,000 words +/- 10%)
  • Portfolio of evidence underpinned by Professional discussion

Entry Requirements:

  • No specific prior qualifications or experience

Here’s what Aurora had to say about her experience on a Capella Apprenticeship:

“I started as a Production Operative and after 2 years became a Quality Technician. I developed an interest in Quality and became a Quality Auditor. Although I enjoyed working in Quality Managmenet Systems, I wished I could have the opportunity to correct non-conformities by myself and not just give advice. So I applied for the role of Quality Engineer and completed the Level 4 Quality Practitioner apprenticeship.

I chose to do the apprenticeship because I’m passionate about Quality and wanted a new opportunity to develop my skill set.

Through the apprenticeship I’ve developed the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain the Quality Mangement System and gained practical use of Quality Tools and improvement methodology. This has helped me to beome more efficient, productive and improve the business performance.

I gained better leadership skills and learnt how to lead a complex project for cost improvement.”
