A programme designed to build problem solving and process improvement capability.
Our Improvement Practitioner programme is designed to build higher-level problem solving and process improvement capability. Using a blend of Lean and Six Sigma, project and change management tools to identify and lead the delivery of change across organisational functions and processes.
It is aimed at those who lead small projects or play a key support role in larger projects. Tackling issues that may require swift problem solving or re-occurring problems that may require in depth analysis and the implementation of a range of effective and sustainable countermeasures. Improvement Practitioners can be found across all industry sectors and functions, including manufacturing, finance, engineering, operations, IT, property, retail, service, and hospitality.

As part of the Improvement Standards, the Level 4 Improvement Practitioner aligns with the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. This means that on successful completion of your apprenticeship, you’ll receive two certificates: an Institute for Apprenticeship Certificate, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Capella was involved in developing this Level 4 Improvement Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard and Assessment Plan, so we understand it deeply.
We consulted widely to develop our training materials, and they’ve been approved by Toyota, so you can be confident they’re benchmarked against Best in Class. This means we’re able to share best practice and deliver rich learning programmes with our blended approach delivery.

Learners deliver an improvement project alongside the apprenticeship, with guidance and support from the learner’s coach and mentor. During the 14-months training period, learners are required to collate a portfolio of evidence, which includes examples of their behavioural development.
The important thing to remember is that throughout our Level 4 Improvement Practitioner Apprenticeship, learners are supported with tutor-led, bite sized training, 1:1 coaching and easy access to supporting resources.
Your End Point Assessment is made up of three parts:

Here’s what Olga had to say about her experience on a Capella Apprenticeship:
“My job requires strong problem solving skills and I wanted to gain more knowledge around Lean Six Sigma and the use of tools to be able to upskill my team. Through the apprenticeship I’ve gained a practical understanding of the use of statistical tools that help me make my daily work more measurable and achievements better-weighted and tangible.
Helping my company, VF Corporation, to align existing processes to the changing environment, with quicker identification and response to problems. I have helped to build a new team that took over cross-brand tasks and I now work on replicating successful improvement measures from my apprenticeship project to a broader scale.
I now have a good understanding of root cause analysis and verification methodology, better leadership, and project management skills.”
Our dedicated apprenticeship team deliver online information sessions twice a week where you can find out more about these apprenticeships.Reserve a Seat on Our Next Online Information Session
