Value Stream Mapping - from our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training

In this video, PMI Partner Consultant, Des Kelly, talks to some of our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt delegates about Value Stream Mapping.

What is Value Stream Mapping?

A Value Stream Map is a ‘data rich’ process map that shows process steps, data about the performance of each process step and information flows within the process. They are drawn to represent the current state of the process and then again to represent the future state of the process after it is redesigned to remove waste.

Value Stream Maps are very effective in helping organisations and cross-functional teams understand the flow of their work and make initial improvements quickly. They provide a baseline for further improvement whilst stimulating a lean culture at all levels of the company.

Questions about how to create your own VSM?

Like these delegates, you can explore Value Stream Mapping in more detail via our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course – see course details here.

Alternatively, our in-house Value Stream Mapping Workshop gives your team the opportunity to work on their own processes with guidance from one of our expert consultants.  Within the 3-day workshop, structured training including a live improvement simulation, teaches you the thinking, approach and tools required to implement Lean improvement through Value Stream Maps, before the learning is applied by constructing a real VSM of your own work processes – see course details here.
