The Customer Challenge

At the time, the company was operating profitably within the Africa and Middle East region;  however, it was not sustainable when faced with current and emerging challenges:

    • Political instability existed across the region
    • They had limited expertise to maintain and improve their significant asset base
    • Their Health and Safety performance was unacceptable
    • There was a target to increase profit in this region by 16%

Creating alignment to deliver improvement

PMI were engaged to support the organisation at regional and business unit level.  Key components of this work included:

    • Working with the CEO and leadership team to define and describe the business aim
    • Facilitating a series of leadership alignment workshops, within the regional office and business units
    • Provision of specific, bespoke consulting interventions including:
      • Working alongside business unit CEOs to design and enable specific local improvement programmes
      • Focused coaching and support to deliver business-critical projects
      • Technical consulting around the principles, thinking, and methods involved in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
      • Delivery of a systemic approach to coaching managers across the Commercial, Finance, HR, Engineering and Health & Safety functions

    • Greater dialogue, engagement, and alignment between regional and business unit facilities, as well as business unit to business unit
    • Leaders were able to translate strategic objectives into both the behaviours and processes needed to deliver results
    • Greater insight into losses and their associated costs was uncovered, so improvement projects could be focused on priority issues
    • Functionally aligned improvement plans were deployed
