Why GEMBAfication?

After decades of working alongside organisations, we’ve noticed something that’s hard to ignore. Most improvement stories focus on the polished outcome. The neat case study, the result that looks inevitable in hindsight. What rarely gets explored is the part that actually shapes success. The decisions made with incomplete information,  the trade-offs that felt uncomfortable at the time, the moments of doubt when leaders wondered whether the effort would really land.

GEMBAfication is here to close that gap. Each episode explores change as it really happens; not as a framework on a slide, but as lived work on the ground. Drawing on PMI’s experience of performance improvement across sectors and the real experiences of practitioners who’ve had to make improvement stick in complex, pressurised environments. Because we all know that’s where the learning really is.

Successes, setbacks, and the learning in between

Every episode centres on a candid conversation with someone who’s led change from the inside. We deliberately explore both sides of the story, from the moments where improvement delivered meaningful results, to times when things didn’t go to plan. Our guests are generous with their honesty, talking openly about decisions made under pressure, warning signs they noticed too late, and what they’d do differently next time.

In our world, every experience is valuable, and hearing how others have navigated the realities of performance improvement makes the work feel less isolating, and far more achievable. So if you’re looking for thoughtful reflection, practical insight, and reassurance that progress rarely follows a straight line, GEMBAfication is for you.
